NHRA (National HotRod Association) was founded in 1951 by Wally Parks. Drag racing is a sport that originated on the streets of small towns in the early 50's and eventually was brought to a track for more fun and safer idea for a Saturday night. It wasn't all about money. It was just about fun and who had the fastest hot rod back then. Over the years the sport has grown and continues to grow everyday. It's not only a sport, it's a way of life and once you're in it, it's in your blood. From horsepower's of 100-7000 anything can happen. It's just a risk you take no matter how much it may cost. Drag racing later started becoming a sponsored sport which brought many more people in for the sake of not having to completely pay out of pocket although it's worth it in every way. Even if you aren't a driver, just being a crew member or spectator is the way to live and enjoy the sport as well. It really becomes an addictive feel and rush as you breathe the nitrious coming from the cars. The smell of race fuel, burning rubber, cheers from fans and crew, engines roaring even the feel of thunder as the cars race to the end of the 1320 line is a experience to never be forgotten. The nervousness of your favorite driver(s) banging the green light at a perfect 0.07 is unbeatable. If it wasn't for Shirley Muldowney (top fuel driver) Women wouldn't be able to race today.

Erica Enders motivated to defend her crown
Erica Enders, 32 grew up in Houston Texas. Her life has centered around fast cars and racing fuel since she was 9 years old. She started out driving junior dragsters where she also stared in a Disney original movie, Right on Track and decided to further her career once finding out she had fallen in love with the sport. Her sister, Courtney Enders has supported her since day one and still does to this day. First racing for Cagnazzi racing team, Erica is now a driver of the Elite Motorsports Chevy Camaro pro stock team. She has won more races and titles than any female driver in NHRA, making her a world champ. As she won her last race at Pomona drag way last year, she isn't giving up. The rules for the pro stock class are changing which means she will have to compete against the fastest known drivers in her class such as Greg Anderson, Allen Johnson, Buddy Perkinson, Alan Prusiensky and many more for another chance at becoming a champ. Erica knows it will be quite challenging but she will be more confident than ever to keep her title especially in her new 2016 Mopar Dodge Dart with 1,450 horsepower she is sure to win the lights.
