A Day at the Drags

Unlike any other sporting event that last maybe 2-4 hours, drag racing is an all day event. The drivers prepare by waking up at 5 or 6am and loading up the trailers with all their racing equipment and not to forget, their car. A shower or breakfast or what's on Facebook is never a thought that crosses their mind. A prayer and pep talk is though. As the crew meets up at the track before 7am, they go ahead and make sure everything is running alright with the car(s). It may take from a simple tune up to putting a whole new engine in before eliminations or qualifying. As they dial their cars in after inspection, these drivers are under more stress than anyone! But don't think for a minute that they want to back out and leave. In this sport, the drivers are die hard passionate about what they do. Drag racing is the most competitive sport watched by millions. As they spectators began to come in the gates and take their seats, drivers are all suited up and ready to launch and bang that green light with a .007 reaction time! As the fans are cheering on their favorite team or driver they want to please all their fans expectations by winning but of course they won't always be able to so they have to try their hardest which is more than fine to us fans. A trip to the track is an escape from reality even stress to a lot of people. It's a way of happiness and to some as a hobby. Sure you can turn to ESPN and watch it but nothing compares to actually being there and feeling the rumbling of the stands as you slowly begin to become deaf for a few hours. In the end it's all worth it. Once you get that first whiff of nitrious oxide, you will be a regular. Drag racing is something that if your in it, it's in your blood not by choice. People come out from all over the world just to see even one driver perform at their best and pay the price that some people don't even make in a weeks paycheck depending if it's a national event or not
